We are making changes to the ASA curriculum to meet employer and market demand for actuarial training, in particular the need for increased data analytics coverage and new “soft skills” training in adaptability, change (AQ or Adaptability Quotient) and emotional intelligence (EQ or Emotional Intelligence Quotient.) In May 2021 the SOA Board of Directors approved a revision to the curriculum for candidates pursuing an ASA designation. Participation in the UEC-DE program is currently by invitation only. UCAP-IC with UEC Diversity Extension (DE) Status: The UEC-DE program allows universities serving high concentrations of students underrepresented in the actuarial profession to become eligible for SOA exam FM credit by attaining a designated UEC mark on university courses at approved UCAP-ICs.

CAE with University-Earned Credit (UEC) Status: The UEC program allows university students to become eligible for SOA exam credit by attaining a designated UEC mark on university courses at approved CAEs.Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE): CAE must maintain eight specific requirements related to degree, curriculum, graduate count, faculty composition, graduate quality, appropriate academic integration, connection to industry, and research/scholarship.UCAP–Advanced Curriculum (UCAP-AC): Must maintain course coverage for at least four SOA preliminary exams with one of those being Exam LTAM or Exam STAM and approved courses for all Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) topic areas.UCAP–Introductory Curriculum (UCAP-IC): Must maintain course coverage for at least two SOA preliminary exams and have approved courses for at least one VEE topic area.
